About IIC

As per directions from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, Mahalakshmi College has established the Institution’s Innovation Cell to systematically foster the culture of innovation in the college. The primary mandate is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes during their formative years.

Mahalakshmi College has envisioned encouraging the creation of an Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to promote innovation in the institution through multitudinous modes, leading to an innovation-promotion ecosystem in the college.

Major Focus of the IIC

To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
A start-up and entrepreneurship supporting mechanism in Mahalakshmi College.
Preparing the institute for the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) framework.
Establishing a functional ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of ideas.
Developing better cognitive ability amongst students.

Functions of the IIC

Promote innovation in the institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation-promotion ecosystem on campus.
Conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by the Central MIC in a time-bound fashion.
Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
Organize periodic workshops, seminars and interactions with entrepreneurs, investors and professionals, and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
Create an institution’s innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by the institution’s faculty and students.
Organize hackathons, idea competitions and mini-challenges with the involvement of industries.
